The DRV Bund Accelarates Claims Processecing with eReview

The DRV Bund, formerly BfA (Bundesversicherungsanstalt für Angestellte )- “Federal Pension Fund Agency for White Collar Employees”) manages the state owned pension fund, unemployment insurance for salaried employees in Germany. The German federal insurance agency deals with approximately 30 million people including retired persons. BfA needed a solution that would streamline their claims processing workflow.

Following were the key challeneges:

	Manual and disintegrated electronic workflow resulted in slower claims processing
	Verification and authentication of documents took inordinate amount of time
	Legal challenges for protecting viewing of multi-format documents in a workflow
	Moving from stand-alone windows based application to enterprise Java environment
	Proposed system must work with IBM Content manager, and other enterprise software in a platform independent way

The multiformat viewer is realized as a JavaBean, which would be integrated into the presentation layer of rvGlobal® via an ActiveX-Interface. The functions offered by the viewer are provided as Java-Methods as well as ActiveX-Methods. This consequently enables the incorporation of the viewer into rvGlobal® or any other J2EE-Application.
